The 25th Japanese Public Speaking Contest (Saturday, February 25, 2012)









The Embassy of Japan and the Executive Committee for the 25th Japanese Public Speaking Contest are pleased to announce that "The 25th Japanese Public Speaking Contest" will be held as indicated below.

Nihongo wo benkyo suru minasan, why not participate in the contest and show your Japanese proficiency? Winners will be awarded splendid prizes.

The contest is open to the public. Admission is free.

17:20-17:50 Intermission, Jury deliberation

2. Place
Bel Air Hotel

3. Theme
"People of Japan! THIS is Holland!
(How would you express, explain or introduce this country to Japanese people ?)

4. Qualifications
Participants must
(1) be at least 18 years of age.
(2) hold nationality of the Netherlands or that of another European Union member state and have resided in the Netherlands for a consecutive six-month period preceding the date of the contest.
(3) have never lived in Japan for more than two years.
(4) have never previously held Japanese nationality. Persons with one or more parents holding Japanese nationality are not eligible.

5. Length
Approx. 5 minutes (followed by Q&A in Japanese)

6. Number of participants
Approx. 20 (If more than 20 participants register, pre-selection may take place.)

7. Application Procedure
Please complete and return the application form including a passphoto to us by post.
* A confirmation email will be sent to you after registration. If, after 5 days you have not received confirmation, please contact us by telephone (070-3469544).
