Concert (Conductor: Kazushi Ono & Pianist: Alexander Gavrylyuk) Kazushi Ono will be making his debut with the Rotterdam Philharmonic on the 12th of November. Having conducted at for example the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra (1992-2001) and at De Munt in Brussels, he has been raved about in the international press. The leading French paper Le Figaro called him one of the most fascinating musical minds of our era;’ The New York Times is amazed by his conducting style: ‘Kazushi Ono’s conducting [is] filled with a musical energy, narrowed and pinpointed by elegant technique.’ On November 12, you can experience this musical energy yourself, at de Doelen in Rotterdam.

Dec 10, 2010-Jan 16, 2011 Hokusai 250 Katsushika Hokusai, undisputedly the most famous Japanese artist, was born 250 years ago in Edo (known today as Tokyo). He became known worldwide due to mainly one composition: The great wave. This woodblock print is part of the series 36 Views on Mount Fuji, a set of prints that was published in the 1830s. With this series Hokusai’s fame spread to the West as well.
