The Japan Festival in Amstelveen (14 and 15 June) |

On 14 and 15 June, the Japan Festival was held at a town square in Amstelveen. At the opening on the 14th at twelve o’clock, Ambassador Tsuji, Alderman Ms. Veeningen of Amstelveen and Chairman of the Japan Festival Foundation Mr. Van Schoonhoven made a speech and they performed Kagamibiraki (open a sake barrel). After that, on the stage, there was a music performance by the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy and then students of the Japanese school in Amsterdam showed yosakoi festival dances. Until seven o’clock various activities were held. At the town square stands were set up not only of Japanese food but also of the community of people who come from Fukushima Prefecture.
