As part of the celebration of 400 years of trade relations between the Netherlands and Japan, the exhibition Fading Borders is opening on 13 September 2009 at Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden.Visitors get an intimate glimpse into photographer Lucienne van der Mijle’s view of how these two worlds melted together. The exhibition Fading Borders consists of a series of double portraits of Japanese/Dutch couples who live and work in the Netherlands and Dutch/Japanese couples who live and work in Japan. The contrast between the different cultures is precisely what binds together many mixed couples. An apparent contrast creates fascination and inspiration. |

In addition to displaying the essence of Japanese Budo, we will conduct seminars, hands-on experience and training sessions in Japanese Budo in order to further promote the international understanding of Budo. |
