2010 Official Spring Opening of the Japanese Garden in the Clingendael estate

The Japanese Garden in Clingendael estate, situated between The Hague and Wassenaar, was officially open for spring on Wednesday, April 28. Approximately one hundred guests including officials from both the city of The Hague and Wassenaar and many other friends of Japan enjoyed visiting the Japanese Garden under wonderful spring weather conditions. The Garden was created in the early 20th century by Baroness Marguerite Mary van Brienen who shipped lanterns, Buddha statues, plants and other items back from Japan. Today the City of the Hague maintains and operates the garden. Mr. Rabin Baldewsingh, Alderman, City of the Hague and Ambassador Minoru Shibuya planted a Japanese Rose “Camellia Japonica” to commemorate the opening this year.

Opening period 2010 of the Japanese Garden in Clingendael: 30 April – 13 June from 09:00 – 20:00
