On 25 May, from 12:00 till 17:00 hours, the annual Japan Market was held at the ‘Rapenburg’ in Leiden. After a taiko performance, Ambassador Tsuji and Mayor of Leiden Mr. Lenferink, the Director of the SieboldHuis Ms. Schiermeier, and the organizer of the Japan Market Ms Tonk opened the market by releasing balloons.
More than forty stands lined the Rapenburg and introduced all kinds of Japanese culture, from Japanese foods such as sushi, takoyaki and yakitori, to bonsai, ikebana, origami, shogi and various books.
It was great weather that day and a lot of people visited the Japan market.
