The annual Cherry Blossom Festival was held on Wednesday, 10 April in a large and imposing tent, specially set up for this event at the Cherry Blossom Park in Amstelveen. Due to the prevailing cold weather, the cherry blossom trees at the park were still in the budding stage.  Nonetheless, visitors were captured by an enthusiastic atmosphere thanks to the traditional music of Japanese drums, the shamisen (a traditional Japanese string instrument), a Japanese choir, a youth aikido demonstration, and sushi, green tea and sake. Since one of the festival’s themes was health and cosmetics, a number of Japanese companies active in the field of health and environment had their products on display.
