Second financial assistance to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon |

On Tuesday, 19 March 2013 the government of Japan extended an additional financial assistance of 1 million US dollars to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon for the purpose of restoring the rule of law in Lebanon. Japan contributed 1 million US dollars to the Special Tribunal in 2008 for the establishment of the Tribunal and the investigation of the case of assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri. Japan hopes that this additional assistance will be beneficial for the Special Tribunal at this juncture when the trial will start in the near future and thus will contribute to the peace and stability of Lebanon and the region. |
