Professor Laurens Jan Brinkhorst awarded Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun |

The Government of Japan announced that Professor Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, Former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands and Former Ambassador of the Commission of the European Communities to Japan, was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of economic development and mutual understanding between Japan and the Netherlands and his efforts towards the realisation of a closer partnership between Japan and the European Communities.
