On 21 January, Professor Dr. Rien Segers, former head and professor of the Center for Japanese Studies at the University of Groningen, received the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for his great contribution to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and the Netherlands. On this occasion, an award ceremony was held at the residence of Ambassador Tsuji.
About fifty people who enjoy a close relationship with Professor Segers were invited to the ceremony. After a speech by Ambassador Tsuji and the presenting of the award certificate, Professor Segers made a speech as well and later engaged in many pleasant talks with the guests.
