- On November 9, two members of the Embassy staff, invited by Association for Multi-Cultural Families, Holland goup, KAMOME, participated in a meeting concerning the Hague Convention (the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction) which was held at Stichting TULIP GAKUEN in Amstelveen.
- At the meeting, the Embassy staff briefed participants about the outline of the Hague Convention and the role of the Embassy in this regard. After that, they exchanged views with participants and answered questions. Some participants shared their experiences, for example when a mother planned travel abroad with her kids, she was asked by immigration officers at the airport whether her spouse had agreed on her taking the children or not. The Embassy of Japan has consulted the Dutch authorities in this regard and some tips may be found on Embassy’s webpage (http://www.nl.embjapan.go.jp/j/consulate/shukkoku_miseinen.html) .
- For the general information on the Hague Convention, see the webpage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (http://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/gaiko/hague/index.html).
