Mar 11-Apr 24 | Stars, Flowers and Honeynight | Aya Takano combines in her work various worlds of art: 19th century Japonism, contemporary manga and science fiction. Placed in an imaginary futuristic world, her main characters consist of cute girls in colourful kimono that reminisce of young girls in the Edo period (ca. 1600-1868) but also of modern women that try to exhibit a high degree of 'cuteness'. The highly acclaimed work of Aya Takano in this exhibition gives insight into one of the main streams of contemporary Japanese popular art and culture. | Details | SieboldHuis Rapenburg 19 2311 GE Leiden |
