On 5 July, at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and in the presence of Ambassador Inomata, Mr André Bolhuis, the chairman of the Dutch NOC*NSF, and Mr Kensaku Morita, governor of Chiba Prefecture, signed an agreement for the organisation of pre-camps in Chiba Prefecture for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The pre-camps in Chiba Prefecture will include thirteen different sports for the Olympics, and nine sports for the Paralympics. In his speech, Ambassador Inomata spoke about Sakura City being the centre of Dutch studies in the east of Japan during the Edo period, and Dutch engineers being involved in the construction of the Tone Canal during the Meiji Period. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that these pre-camps will highlight the existing bond between The Netherlands and Chiba Prefecture and strengthen the relationship between the citizens of Chiba Prefecture and the Dutch people.
