Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands
The Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands announces a vacancy for an Assistant in the Legal Section. The Assistant supports the work of the Legal Section, which handles Japan’s engagement with international courts/tribunals and other legal institutions based in The Hague.
Job duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of diplomatic members of the Embassy, the Assistant will be performing the following duties:
Providing summaries of information (press releases, media reports, journal articles, court records) about the Hague-based legal institutions and relevant legal matters;
Preparing reports or summaries of discussion of meetings and court proceedings attended;
Conducting research and analysis of Dutch/European legal affairs;
Corresponding with the Dutch Government, the courts and other relevant institutions;
Preparing for events organized by the Embassy;
Secretarial work; and
Other work upon request
Basic knowledge of international law and Dutch/European legal affairs
Fluent in both Dutch and English
A strong sense of responsibility and ability to work in the team
Working permit issued by the Dutch authorities (for non-Dutch nationals only)
Good health condition.
Expected Date of Commencement: 1 November 2023

A curriculum vitae (in English) with a recent photograph taken within 6 months;
A letter of recommendation; and
Copies of all relevant educational certificates (if written in Dutch, translation in English must be attached)
