Japan Festival in Amstelveen

On the 23rd of October, many people visited the 4th Japan Festival in Amstelveen.
The festival started with the opening ceremony presented by Mr. Sakuma, president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Netherlands, Ms. Veeningen, deputy mayor of Amstelveen, and Ambassador Inomata, Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands.
After the opening ceremony, visitors enjoyed various aspects of Japanese culture, such as stage performances, Japanese food and workshops.

On Sunday October 23rd the 4th edition of the Japan Festival will take place on the grand square of the Amstelveen Shopping Centre from 12:00-17:00.
The Japan Festival 2016 would like to invite you to come and experience this entertaining event which has been organized by people with an interest in Dutch-Japanese relations. Welcoming all nationalities, young and old, friends and family, Japanese food and culture can be enjoyed as well as several workshops and stage performances. For this occasion the Embassy of Japan presents “HANABI”. HANABI is a creative group consisting of a DJ working together with musicians that play traditional Japanese musical instruments like the Shakuhachi and the Shamisen.
This time, the famous Sumie (calligraphy art) artist Mr. Hidekichi Shigemoto will accompany HANABI and perform a live painting.
Japan-Netherlands Cosplay Collection also organizes a cosplay show during the Japan Festival. They are now recruiting people to participate, so if you are interested in being a part of the cosplay show, please check the website below for more information.
