Twenty-First Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention

The Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention held its Twenty-First Session from Monday, 28 November to Friday, 2 December 2016 at The Hague, the Netherlands. Of the 192 States Parties, 134 countries, including Japan, participated in the Session. In this Session, the progress in the destruction of remaining stockpiles of chemical weapons was reported, and the Programme and Budget of the OPCW for 2017 was adopted as well. Ambassador Hiroshi Inomata, Permanent Representative of Japan to the OPCW, made a statement during the General debate.

Japan displayed panels and a video showing the destruction project of Chemical Weapons abandoned by Japan in the People’s Republic of China throughout the session. An event was held on the second day of the session for introducing the display to the delegates.
