17 February 2017

On the 15th of February, a Shodo Calligraphy workshop was held at the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands.
Teacher Owen Tjon Sie Fat explained about Japanese characters (hiragana, katakana and kanji) and the differences between calligraphy from other Asian countries. After that, participants tried their hand at some basic lines with a fude (brush) and sumi (ink) and even some more difficult characters.
