On 25 April, a ceremony was held for the spring opening of the Japanese Garden at the Clingendael estate. In a large tent, Director of the Segbroek district of The Hague Mrs. Annette de Graaf, Ambassador of Japan Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, and Alderman of The Hague Mr. Boudewijn Revis made speeches.
In 2016, cherry trees were planted along a small path leading to the Japanese garden, thanks to the municipality of The Hague and a donation from the Japanese non-profit organisation “Ikuoukai”. This year, on the way to the Japanese garden, the officials and guests stopped by one of the trees and enjoyed the blossoming flowers.
At the Japanese garden, everyone enjoyed music and took a stroll about the garden.

In 2017, the Japanese Garden is open to the public from 29 April to 11 June, and in autumn from 14 to 29 October.
