Report: Aikido Lecture (24 May 2017)
2017/5/3
30 May 2017
On the 24th of May, an Aikido Lecture was held at the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands.
We were very proud to have Aikido expert Mr. Wilko Vriesman, who holds various positions in national and international Aikido associations, to introduce the martial art of Aikido.
He explained about Aikido’s beginnings, its history and the underlying philosophy, as well as the background of Aikido in the Netherlands. After the lecture there was a demonstration for which a small tatami square was prepared. Aided by two fellow Aikidoka, Mr. Vriesman showed various impressive techniques to neutralize attacks. After the demonstration there was time for questions, and for some personal demonstrations involving members of the audience.
Thank you for the interest and patriating in this lecture.
