On September 10, the second edition of the ‘Japan Day’ was held in Oosterhout in the southern part of The Netherlands.
The Japan Day included a lot of events, such as a softball tournament and various fun activities supported by Japanese companies and a Japanese professional baseball team.
Many spectators attended the event: Ambassador and Mrs. Inomata, King’s Commissioner of the Province of Noord-Brabant Prof. Dr. Wim van de Donk, Mayor of Oosterhout Mr. Huisman, the president of the European Association of Professional Baseball Mr. Van den Hurk, numerous local fans, and people from the Japanese community.
Local team De Glaskoning Twins also played a baseball game, for which Ambassador Inomata threw the first pitch. They won the game, partly due to great play by Japanese pitcher Daisuke Yamashita, former player of the Fukuoka University baseball team.
