Reception for the Celebration of the Emperor’s Birthday (December 11 2018)
December 14, 2018
On December 11, 2018 Ambassador and Madame Inomata held a reception at the Ambassador’s residence, in honour of the Emperor’s Birthday on 23 December. It is the last time this reception will be held in December, as the current Emperor’s reign and corresponding era will end next year. The reception was attended by around 300 guests from the diplomatic corps and international organizations, as well as officials from the Dutch Government, representatives of various business circles and of course the Japanese community in the Netherlands.
The profound Dutch-Japanese relations were once again reinforced through the singing of both the Japanese and Dutch national anthems, as well as through the Ambassador’s speech which looked back on the extensive progress of mutual relations throughout the bygone Heisei era. Afterwards, the guests enjoyed Japanese food prepared by the chef of the residence, as well as freshly-prepared sushi called “Nigirizushi” with offerings of Japanese beer, sake and whisky.
