On April 25, a ceremony was held for the spring opening of the Japanese Garden at the Clingendael estate. In a large tent, the Ambassador of Japan Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, the Acting Mayor of the City of Wassenaar Mrs. Klaver, and the Mayor of the City of The Hague Mrs. Krikke made speeches.
On this occasion, the Ambassador awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation to the Haeghe Groep in recognition of their contribution to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the Netherlands through maintaining the Japanese Garden for many years.
In the company of their guests, they admired the garden and enjoyed a wonderful performance by two musicians playing traditional Japanese instruments called Shō and Shakuhachi.
The Japanese Garden is open to the public for a few weeks in spring and autumn.
