Conferment Ceremony of “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays” upon Mrs. Elise Wessels-van Houdt, director of the Nihon no hanga (Japanese prints) Museum (July 18, 2019)

On July 18, 2019, a ceremony was held at the Residence of Japanese Ambassador to confer“The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays” upon Mrs. Elise Wessels-van Houdt, director of the Nihon no hanga (Japanese prints) Museum.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Inomata delivered a congratulatory speech and conferred the decoration upon Mrs. Wessels after presenting the Patent of Decoration.
Close friends, family members and people from art and culture communities were present to congratulate Mrs. Wessels on her decoration.

On May 21, 2019, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2019 Spring Conferment of Decorations.
Among them, Mrs. Elise Wessels-van Houdt, director of the Nihon no hanga (Japanese prints) Museum, will receive “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays” in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the promotion of Japanese arts in the Netherlands.
