Reception for the Celebration of the Emperor’s Birthday
2023/3/30
On 2 March 2023, the Ambassador and Madam Minami hosted a reception at the Ambassador's official residence to celebrate the Emperor's birthday.
Approximately 200 people from the Dutch government, the business community, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and the Japanese community attended the reception.
The reception opened with a rendition of the national anthems of both Japan and the Netherlands by TACHIKAWA Kiyoko, a Japanese soprano singer who based in the Netherlands.
Ambassador Minami congratulated His Majesty the Emperor on his 63rd birthday, welcomed the further increase in people-to-people exchanges as the world recovers from the Corona pandemic, and expressed his wish for world peace and stability and the deepening of Japan-Dutch relations.
Japan was promoted at several booths with representatives from the airline industry (ANA, JAL), travel industry (HIS), and Japanese cuisine was promoted as well (Hokkai Suisan and Dutch Fukushima Prefectural Association).
It was a wonderful opportunity for attendees to experience the charms of Japan while enjoying Japanese sake and Japanese food!
