Reception for the 65th Anniversary of the Netherlands-Japan Association(October 18, 2023)

 On 18 October, a reception was held at the Ambassador’s residence hall to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Netherlands-Japan Association.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Ambassador Minami expressed his gratitude for the support given to the people of Fukushima and Rikuzentakata by members of the association and blessed them on the 65th anniversary of the association. Ms. Ingrid Houtkooper, chairperson of the association, also reflected on the progress made so far, including the growing interest in Japan in the Netherlands, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, through online seminars and other events, including the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Mr. Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs, gave the toast.

     The Netherlands-Japan Association is the largest association of friends of Japan in the Netherlands and has been actively involved in support activities following the Great East Japan Earthquake.
