Reception towards EXPO 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan (March 7, 2024)

On Thursday, March 7th, Ambassador Minami and Madame hosted the reception towards EXPO 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan at their residence in The Hague. About 100 guests from the Dutch and Japanese public and private sectors, who are involved in the EXPO 2025, participated in this reception.
As an opening remark, Ambassador Minami stated that we have 401 days by the opening of Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai and that he would like to invite all of the participants in the reception to share ideas on how we can successfully use the Expo 2025 as opportunities to further develop bilateral cooperation. Following the Ambassador’s speech a video message from the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Osaka and Commissioner General for the Netherlands at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Mr. Marc Kuipers and footage of the groundbreaking ceremony held in Yumeshima on March 5th was shown. As a representative of the Dutch public sector, Ms. Aino Jansen, Director of the EXPO 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, gave a speech. And finally, as a representative of the Dutch private sector, Ms. Irene Linthorst, Director of the Policy Division at VNO-NCW / MKB-Nederland gave a speech and toasted for the success of the EXPO 2025.
At the venue, as an introduction to Japanese food culture, dishes from the Osaka, Kansai region, such as fried skewers with scallops from Hokkaido Prefecture, were served. Some menus were based on recipes provided by Murakawa Gakuen, which is participating in the Osaka-Kansai Expo co-creation project, and Japanese alcoholic beverages, such as wine from Yamanashi Prefecture, sake from Saga Prefecture and others, were served as well.
