The Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands announces a vacancy for an Assistant in the Political Section. The Assistant supports the work of the Political Section, which handles Japan’s engagement with the Dutch government and other relevant institutions.
A. Job duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of diplomatic members of the Embassy, the Assistant will be performing the following duties.
1. Providing summaries of open source information (press releases, media reports) of the Dutch government and think tanks and relevant political matters;
2. Preparing reports or summaries of discussion of meetings and symposia attended;
3. Conducting research and analysis on Dutch/European/International politics;
4. Corresponding with the Dutch Government and other relevant institutions;
5. Preparing for events organized by the Embassy;
6. Secretarial work; and
7. Other work upon request
B. Requirements:
1. Basic knowledge of Dutch/European/International politics;
2. Proficiency in both Dutch and English;
3. A strong sense of responsibility and ability to work in the team;
4. Working permit issued by the Dutch authorities (for non-Dutch nationals only);
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point,etc);
6. A proven interest in Japanese culture and historical relations between Japan and the Netherlands would be an advantage;
7. The ability to work with social media would be an advantage; and
8. Knowledge of Japanese culture especially working culture would be an advantage.
C. Expected Date of Commencement: 1 July 2025

- A curriculum vitae (in English) with a recent photograph taken within 6 months;
- A letter of recommendation; and
- Copies of all relevant educational certificates (if written in Dutch, translation in English must be attached)
