Reception held to launch Japan’s candidature in the 2026 Election of ICC judges (December 2, 2025)

On 2 December, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of Japan, Mr. NAKANO Daisuke, hosted a reception to launch the candidature of Mr. YAMAUCHI Yoshimitsu, Japan’s candidate in the election of judges to the International Criminal Court (ICC) that will be held in 2026.
Currently, Mr YAMAUCHI is double hatted as the Director at the at the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI) and Japan’s Ambassador for International Judicial Co-operation.
At the reception attended by representatives of a number of ICC States Parties, Ambassador YAMAUCHI stressed that his enthusiasm and motivation for this role explained why he decided to run in the next election.
