Reception for the Celebration of the Emperor’s Birthday (February 19, 2026)

On 19 February, a reception was held at the Ambassador's official residence to celebrate the Emperor's Birthday with many guests.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador MICHII stated that he expects Japan to address various challenges in cooperation with the Netherlands as well as international organizations based here, in a world experiencing drastic change.
Mr. Tieman, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, then proposed a toast.
The guests enjoyed colorful and creative Japanese cuisine prepared by Mr. Tsuchiya, the official chef of the Embassy and sushi arranged by Hokkai Suisan. In addition, a selection of Japanese sakes from Fukushima Prefecture, Saga Prefecture, and other regions, as well as Arita ware (Arita-yaki), Fukushima’s folk arts, and GREEN×EXPO 2027were showcased.
Overall, it was a wonderful opportunity for guests to experience authentic Japanese food culture, with many commenting that the food was exquisite.
