On 5 March 2026, a conferment ceremony was held at the Residence of the Japanese Ambassador to confer “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette” upon Prof. Em. Dr. Janny de Jong, University of Groningen and Former Director of the Centre for Japan Studies, University of Groningen.
She has made a significant contribution to promoting academic relations and mutual understandings between Japan and the Netherlands.
