Ambassador MICHII’s visit to Saga Prefecture and Nagasaki Prefecture (March 23-24, 2026)

On March 23, Ambassador MICHII visited Saga City and Arita Town in Saga Prefecture. In Saga City, he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Yamaguchi of Saga Prefecture, where they discussed further strengthening the relationship between Saga Prefecture and the Netherlands. He also toured the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University and local businesses. In Arita Town, he paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Matsuo and visited ceramic-related facilities in the town, including the Kyushu Ceramic Museum.
The following day, March 24, he visited Nagasaki City in Nagasaki Prefecture. He paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Suzuki, where they discussed preparations for the 10th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Nagasaki and Leiden, scheduled for 2027. In addition, he toured Dutch-related sites in the city, including Dejima and the Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture, and met with Mr. Shimazaki, Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Nagasaki.
